No Limit Saturday

The response from the tournament starved masses in Music City has confirmed that there is a substantial interest in a NL event on Saturday, June 24th. Therefore, we shall have one.

Entry: $200
Fee: $20 (Food and Tables (2) Purchases)
Dealer Chip: $20 optional for T-1000 chip

For those that have played in my events in the past you know the structure will be good. You will start with at least T-2500 in chips and have 30 minute rounds.

With 20 players:

First $2,000
Second $1,000
Third $ 600
Fourth $ 400

We will have a calcutta if there is interest. The fee will purchase sufficient pizza w/wings. BYOB and sodas. Email me in advance to let me know you are coming.

Please email for more information. Sorry, limited to only those that have played in my events before or is coming with someone that has played in my events in the past.

Until Next Time,

Counting Down the Days

WSOP. I cannot stop thinking about the trip. My game is coming around nicely. I played in 2 $20 180 player events and a $3 rebuy fun tournament. Bubbled in one 180 and lost a race early in the other. Cashed in the $3 rebuy event and thus posted a small loss on the day.

I have decided to start the WSOP trip off right. I am reserving a massage and maybe one other spa treatment on the Friday morning after I arrive. I am going to do my best to get all tension and stress out before the marathon weekend begins. My plans for tournaments are as follows:

Friday:

Two single table $220 events
$540 Daily
$2-5 or $1-2 NL cash games (possible)

Saturday:

$2000 NL Event. I have decided that I am definitely playing in this. I am going to put the focus of the weekend on this event and try to duplicate the performance of 2005. Also, it will take a final table here to unseat Crazy Tom and his big lead in cashes this year.

If I get out early, I may play the $540 daily, but I hope not. If I make it deep, than the $2000 will be it for the day. In addition, all further schedules are subject to change based on the $2000 performance.

Sunday:

$1-2 or 2-5 NL.
$540 Daily

Monday:

$540 Daily and cash games.

Tuesday:

Cash games only. I fly out at 6 PM to New Orleans for work, so no time for anything else.

I know this is not that exciting a post, but it is very therapeutic to set out my schedule like this. Also, if you noticed, there are no satellites into the ME. That is gone for this year barring a really big cash. If I net more than $20,000 from the above list, then I will reevaluate and talk to Mrs. Grip. In other words, as you all know me by now, that means I will head back out for the ME and take a chance on Mrs. Grip killing me for eating up vacation time dedicated to a December beach trip.

Until next time,

Game Time

Well I spent all of yesterday practicing. I played in at least 10 events. I played strong in all of them. I tried two $20 180 player events at the same time using two opposite styles. One kamikaze and one rockish. I made the money with the kamikaze style, lost a big pot with AA v. underpair. Don't remember what set he hit. Not a horrible day as I made the money in two of the $20 events. Made it to the second break in the $10 rebuy event without a rebuy. Lost with 10s v. AA held by a maniac, could not put him on that hand. Got it all in preflop. Alas, no miracle. I did flop quad aces yesterday as well, with us all in preflop blind v. blind.

The real news yesterday: I won a seat in the $1 million guarantee Stars event. 4850 players $215 each. Made it deep into the third hour. I really enjoyed this tournament as I played as tight as I have ever played. My stats at the end of the second hour. 8% of the flops seen, 2 for 2 in show downs, 4 hands won without showdown. I actually began to challenge myself. What hands could I fold. I folded 99 in ep twice, 10s utg once, AQs and AQo countless times. I didn't quite make the money, 1032/4850. 675 got paid. I was as happy as I could be given that I didn't cash.

I have given up trying to win a main event seat. I have dedicated around $400 so far, and have not won one yet. So my schedule is set and I will not be playing the big one yet again. Wait, I could post an auction on EBay and see if that would scrounge up a backer. Have you guys seen those auctions? Pretty funny. There are two or three up all the time, trying to get a sponsor for the main event. Nah, lets just be patient and play in it when I get a seat.

On that subject, congratulations to the Weasel for his ME seat. He won his way into the event with probably the easiest free roll ever on UB. 30 signed up and 16 showed up for a UB freeroll. He took it down. Congrats man, way to go. He also gets his pro rata share of 5% of the total winnings for the UB players. Nice job Weasel. Now take it down.

On the tournament side. The tournament is set for Saturday, June 24th at 6 PM. Email me for more information.

Until next time,
